Game 2 Recap- VES vs NOVA Bears

Victory Slips Through Virginia Elite Spartans Grasp

The Virginia Elite Spartans led on the mound by left-handed pitcher Chris M., who picked up where he left off in game one.  The hurler pitched 2.1 innings, allowing two hits, five walks, one strikeout and six earned runs.  Eli F. and Cooper W. entered the game in relief lasting 2.2 innings and four earned runs. 

Offensively, the Virginia Elite Spartans had 19 players one base throughout the game.  Chris M., Cooper W., and Landon C., led the team with three hits each!  Landon C. led the team with four stolen bases and crossing home plate three times.  Tyler M. had three stolen bases. 

NOVA Bears outlasted the Virginia Elite Spartans to win 7-12.  Spanberg led the Bears offensively with two hits, three RBI’s and two stolen bases.  Bartick took home the win for the Bears, lasting 5.0 innings, 10 hits, two earned runs and seven strikeouts.

Virginia Elite Spartans 13U Falls Short of Exciting Comeback

This game did not lack offensive firepower from either team.  The Virginia Elite Spartans looked confident at the plate tallying 15 hits, 13 RBIs and 3 walks.  Cooper W. and Tatum W. led the Virginia Elite Spartans with four hits, three reached on errors and seven RBIs combined. 

Landon C. led the Elite Spartans on the mound! The young flamethrower lasted two innings, allowed nine earned runs, three walks and one strikeout.  Jude S. and Chris M. both came into the game only allowing five earned runs, issued five walks and two strikeouts over three innings in relief. 

The Virginia Elite Spartans showed resiliency and toughness fighting back into the game after falling behind 11 runs heading into the bottom of the 3rd inning.  The NOVA Bears 13U won 22-18.  Spanberg was the winning pitcher for the NOVA Bears.
